Description

Two days trip in Burgundy

Travel the historic wine route from Beaune to Dijon, through the bucolic Burgundy countryside to the heart of the Burgundy region, touring its medieval villages, local museums, castles and wine estates to taste and learn about its famous wines.
Overnight at the unique Hotel de Gilly. It includes breakfast and dinner.

Day 1 :
Departure from Paris at 7.30am. You will have a one and a half hour drive to the Burgundy region and the UNESCO world heritage site of Vezelay, a charming medieval town with well preserved houses, gates and remparts from 15th to 17th century, as well as one of the finest romanesque basilicas. Continue to the 12th century castle of Bazoches, and then proceed to Beaune. Enjoy lunch on your own, then spend the afternoon touring this medieval city, including its famous Hospices, a masterpiece of French-Flemish art and medieval architecture. Next see the Wine museum, home of the Dukes of Burgundy with a famous collection of Aubusson tapestries. Finally, tour the Bouchard & Sons winery for an interactive discovery of the famous wines of Burgundy, and wine tasting.

Dinner at the hotel (beverage not included).

Day 2 :
Departure at 9.00am for a day devoted entirely to the discovery of the most famous grape varieties and wine cellars of Burgundy, including guided tours, wine tastings and meetings with wine producers. Travel the route des vins, from Beaune to Dijon, beginning with the village of Nuits St Georges to visit the Dufouleur family cellars, producers of great wines since 1596. Next is Clos Vougeot, a wall enclosed vineyard created by Cistercian monks that boasts an AOC designation for its red wine. Visit Grevrey Chambertin, a wine making village noted for the Grand Cru Burgundy wine, and the castle winery of Marsannay. If time allows stop at Chablis to taste the famous grand "vin blanc" at the cellar of the Laroche estate. Return to Paris by 8pm.

This tour is operated with a sedan Mercedes vehicle E or S class for 2 persons or with a luxury Viano 6 seated minivan from 3 to 6 persons and guided by a professional licensed guide.
