You will start this programme with the essentials of Paris. With this city tour, you will discover all the monuments of the right and left banks of the city. You will see the Place de la Concorde with its Egyptian obelisk which is the most impressive square of the city with its fountains, statues and columns where are the remarkable hotel Crillon and the US Embassy.
From there you will go to the Madeleine church looking like a Greek temple, then the Opera Garnier gorgeous architecture from the 19th century, rue le Paix with its luxurious jewelleries, Place Vendome with its column dedicated to Napoleon where is the luxury hotel Ritz.
You will continue with the Faubourg St Honore street where the most fashionable boutiques of Paris are. You will take the Rivoli street before joining the Champs Elysées Avenue which is more than 1 mile long and first designed by Le Notre in the 17th century. On the top is the Arc de Triomphe 50 meters high celebrating the Napoleon victories.
You will take the Kebler Avenue to see the Eiffel Tower built for the Universal Exhibition in 1889. this monument means 18.000 metallic parts and 2,5 millions nuts! You will stop for photos at the bottom of the monument.
You will follow the Seine river bank where are located most of the major historical buildings of the city. You will discover Le Grand and le Petit Palais, the Louvre Museum with its glass pyramid, the Tuileries gardens, the Place des Vosges in the Marais district with its narrow medieval streets, the Bastille square and its columns celebrating the French revolution where is now the new Opera.
You will cross the river Seine to join the left bank and the two islands St Louis and la Cité with Notre Dame Cathedral. You will continue with the Latin Quarter, La Sorbonne most remarkable university of Paris. Le Pantheon, The Luxembourg gardens, St Germain, St Sulpice Churches, Les Invalides built in the 18th century where is Napoleon’s tomb. You will cross some of the most prestigious bridges during this trip : Alexandre III.
Afterwards, our guide will drive to board the boat for 1 hour cruise with lively commentaries in all foreign language together with passages of music evocative of the places and periods on the route.
The Seine river runs across Paris from East to West over about 13 kilometres. 38 bridges step over the river linking the right bank and the left bank. You will discover may of these 38 bridges of which Le Pont Neuf the oldest of Paris built during the 16th Century and unveiled by King Henri IV, the last one’s le Pont Charles de Gaulle inaugurated in 1995 and many famous others : Pont Marie, Pont Alexandre III, Pont de L’Alma…Each of them has a specific history. This a very interesting way to discover the architectural heritage of the city knowing more than 60% of the monuments are located along the river sides. Its economic and politic roles have always had a major input on the history of the city.
The tour will end at the cruise location in the center of the city close to the Eiffel Tower. There is no return to the hotel.
